1. UPI Services Launched In Sri Lanka, Mauritius

After France, UPI has now expanded to Sri Lanka and Mauritius. Indian Prime Minister Modi, along with Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, had a virtual meeting. In that meeting, both countries decided to introduce UPI. Along with UPI, RuPay cards were also introduced in Mauritius.

2. The Appointment of a Deputy Chief Minister In States Is Constitutional

Supreme Court declared that the appointment of a Deputy Chief Minister in a state as constitutional, dismissing a petition opposing the practice. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, leading the bench, says that designating someone as Deputy Chief Minister doesn’t breach the Constitution, rather, showing significance of senior party leaders within the governing coalition.

3. PayTm Payments Bank Director Resigned

Paytm confirmed that an independent director at its banking arm has resigned. According to an exchange filing, Manju Agarwal stepped down from the board of Paytm Payments Bank on due to personal commitments. The payments firm announced on Friday its intention to establish an advisory committee focused on compliance and regulatory matters.

4. Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan Resigned Congress

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan decided to leave the Congress party. This decision is a shock to the Congress because Chavan has a lot of influence in the Nanded region. Ashok Chavan resigned from the Congress party due to reported differences with the state party chief Nana Patole regarding the selection of candidates.
